Artist's statement:
As one traverses the pathways of life, it sometimes takes a while to find one's true passion. Over the years I have expressed my creativity through fiber arts, painting (watercolor and acrylic), stained glass and collage. About four decades ago I discovered the joy of photography.
I am now passionate about pastel painting, mixed media projects, alcohol inks, and more recently acrylic and oil painting. Mixed media projects appeal to me because through them I can create meaningful pieces with a message or pieces that are exciting to look at but have no underlying meaning (that I'm aware of!) -- see my "Out of the Chaos" series.
I consider myself fortunate to live on the Fresno River in the Sierra foothills with Yosemite National Park as my backyard. This inspiring environment provides limitless subjects to explore creatively. I enjoy expressing myself in a rather spontaneous style and take pleasure in sharing my unique interpretations and vision with others. Landscapes will always appeal to me, but I also like to be challenged with subject matter that is somewhat unexpected, such as tractors and galaxies!
